ArtsPRunlimited imagines a Newark goes Baroque Festival for 2022. The Newark Goes Baroque Festival is still in the planning stages of development over 3 years and the themes are Prelude, Overture, and Finale. Newark and Naples, Italy. Both are struggling Cities with artistic treasures that might be vivified by a bold cultural exchange venture here and there.
Other Newark roots include German Beer Baron History, and German Jews (on King Blvd) or a BACH celebration of German composers with the NJ Symphony. St Benedicts (of which I am an alumnus) was founded by monks from Germany as well. A Homage to Sol Hurok who kept classical music alive in Newark along w/Moe Septee might be part of this celebration of Baroque culture in Newark.
The Irish Community and the Newark Fire Department with a focus on supporting their Annual St Patrick’s Parade with an Irish week at NJPAC with a homage to Supreme Court Justice Brennan who hailed from Newark. Perhaps a feature on SACCO & VANZETTI and issues of no justice, no peace.

Czech soprano Maria Jeritza, favorite singer of Giacomo Puccini’s favorite TOSCA, Leos Janacek’s first JENUFA; Richard Strauss wrote a fifth song for Maria Jeritza who retired to Newark’s Forest Hill section after her illustrious work with Strauss, Puccini, and her legendary (musical soireies) in Newark.
Jeritza appeared many times at the The Metropolitan, and NJ State Opera openings at Symphony Hall, (Mosque Theatre). Newark Goes Opera would honor the heritage of Jeritza with a series of opera excerpts, recitals, or opera in concert with the NJ Symphony. .
Other dimensions could include showcasing the Print Collection of the Newark Library at NJPAC to honor Music, Opera in Concert, Ballet, or Denmark, Armenia, Ireland, Germany, or Spain or Italy.
